Cyclacel Appoints Dr. Athos Gianella-Borradori as Director, Medical Affairs
DUNDEE - 3 November 2000 - Cyclacel Limited, the UK-based cancer therapeutics company, today announced the appointment of Athos Gianella-Borradori MD as Director, Medical Affairs. Dr Gianella-Borradori will be responsible for the conduct of clinical trials of Cyclacel's drug candidates in accordance with regulatory and pharmaceutical industry standards. He will interact closely with Cyclacel research staff and the Scientific Advisory Board with regard to the evaluation and selection of development candidates and in-licensing opportunities.
Dr Gianella-Borradori previously held management positions in clinical R&D rising to Head, Oncology and Hematology Clinical R&D at Novartis AG in Switzerland, was Vice President Clinical Affairs at Crucell BV in the Netherlands, and was most recently Director of Preclinical Development, Manufacturing, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Bavarian Nordic Research Institute GmbH in Germany. Dr Gianella-Borradori received his medical degree from the University of Bern, is board certified in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and practised for several years in European and US universities.
Separately Cyclacel also announced today the promotion of Graham Bell, PhD to General Manager of Polgen, Cyclacel's cancer genomics division in Cambridge, England.

Graham performed superbly managing the CYC202 Preclinical Task Force and has now been handed the challenging task of managing our Polgen cancer genomics group and turning it into a business."
