Cyclacel Appoints Bradley Hoy as Financial Controller

DUNDEE - 21 January 1998 - Cyclacel Limited, the emerging cancer biotechnology company, has appointed Bradley Hoy as Financial Controller.

Hoy (35) has joined from ChiRex Inc., a pharmaceutical contract manufacturing group, where he held the position of Financial Controller based in ChiRex's US office since its formation in March 1996 and through its listing on NASDAQ. More recently he oversaw the integration of Glaxo Wellcome's Annan, Scotland manufacturing facility which was purchased by ChiRex. Hoy held previously senior operational accounting roles within BTR plc and Rolls-Royce plc. He is a Chartered Management Accountant.

He has a broad understanding of our business, having worked at an entrepreneurial firm servicing numerous pharmaceutical companies. His experience of the floatation process should be very valuable as Cyclacel makes progress towards its own eventual listing."

Cyclacel Limited is a dedicated cancer therapeutics company aiming at converting insights in cell cycle control into novel treatments for common cancers, such as lung, colon, breast and large bowel, which account for 75% of all cancers. Cyclacel's key research areas are in cell cycle control regulators, selective destruction of cancer cells by gene therapy and intelligent targeting and delivery systems for cancer therapeutics. Cyclacel is also conducting an licensing programme, the objective of which is to identify novel anticancer agents, which can benefit from the Company's insights in cancer biology. Cyclacel's objective is to become a broad-based, world-leading company conducting "Cancer Research for the 21st Century".

Cyclacel was founded by Professor DP Lane, Merlin Ventures, Cancer Research Campaign Technology (CRCT) and the Universities of Dundee and Glasgow and became operational in late 1997. Cyclacel's world-leading cell cycle control technology is directed and small molecule cancer therapeutics.
